#0013 Being a Beginner

First timer.
Newbie.
Beginner.

All different ways of saying the same thing… We don’t have one clue what the heck we are doing. Does that scare us? Does that mean we should stop? Does that freak us out?

Well, I hope you said a “hell no” with me there. For me being a beginner at something really does the opposite. It helps to make me feel free. Free to make mistakes. Free to let go of my own harsh judgment. Most importantly it frees my mind to the endless possibilities of my latest endeavor at hand.

This share is not for perfectionists, control freaks, sticklers, or realists.

This share is for the adventurous, the shameless, the free-spirited, and the creative folks who crave variety.

It’s enjoyable to be a beginner. I enjoy trying new things. I enjoy putting myself out there on a new spectrum and seeing how things go and if I could thrive in that space.

It’s a great feeling to dive into a community and get involved. This weekend two of my favorite communities teamed up for a beautiful event: yogis and crafters. I love these communities because they both tend to be such inclusive and kind communities.

These communities are where people expose their true life passions. When you talk to a Yogi you often will get a unique story about their journey to the mat. Creative and expressive of their life story, I find that yogis are often the type of people who are rich in meaning, looking for continued growth, and ready to share with those around them. I admire that in so many others who practice the art of mindful living.

  • Continued growth
  • Enriching lives
  • Spiritual exploration
  • Shared community space

Respect others around you, for their own personal journey. Whether they share it or not, everyone around us on a daily basis has a story worth hearing.

Do it with confidence, knowing you may fail… but who’s keeping track?

Don’t be embarrassed to start a new and see where you can take your new beginning. Be proud. You never know. You may find a new path that you want to explore deeper and it could enrich your life for months or years to come.

This weekend really got me thinking about this. So I wanted to share. I was nervous. I was worried that my product may not be something others want.

Boy, was I happily surprised. People were buying my items. Wow, people even bought so much that I ran out of a few items (for the time being).

Wonderful communities come together and make extraordinary events. Don’t think that you have to have everything completely figured out, all of your ducks in a row, or everything pegged down to the T before you begin. It’s ok to make some mistakes along the way. I know I didn’t have it all figured out and I don’t regret it at all. I am glad I decided to make this first step and try.

Now, what’s next? I am still trying to figure out where to go with this, but I am enjoying the ride. I think the journey is where we enjoy the excitement of an adventure, after all who knows where it may lead us.

Closing thoughts:

  1. Ready? Set. Start.
  2. Keep in mind you don’t have to wait until you are 100% prepared.
  3. Make a few small steps toward your goals here and there.

I find that when I wait too long. Things fall by the wayside. Or worse, things fall right out of my view and I lose track of things that I had great intentions for.

I wish you luck butterflies. You are blossoming and you’re beautiful just the way you are. I hope that you leap into your next beginning because it turns out you have been a butterfly the whole time. Maybe you just couldn’t see your wings the whole time.

Best always, and remember to live lightly and love courageously dear reader.

    1. That is so sweet, this means so much to me. With the holidays my life has been hectic, I went back to the Midwest for Christmas and now getting back to work. Looking forward to getting back to working, thank you for this wonderful motivation. ❤️
